January 1st

It's the first of January and across the world it's a recognised date for everyone to make a start fresh. No matter who or where you are, it's a date that marks the leaving behind everything that went wrong in the year before and a time to learn and progress in the year to come.

For me two of my New Years resolutions go hand in hand; one being to blog again, the other to do more of what make s me happy. So here I am determined to fulfil both.

Whilst procrastinating on Pinterest I found a 30 day photography challenge which I decided I would put up on here each day through January, allowing me to document this month and doing something creative outside of my uni course.
So here is day 1:

I also recently found a quote that sums up what I feel I should be doing. So I'm posting it here as a reminder that this blog is my opportunity to do it.

All that's left to say is Happy New Year!! I hope it brings everyone happiness and the opportunities to achieve what they want.

The One with The Gift and The Midi Rings

My good friend Sophie kindly gave me this gorgeous trinket box the other day, which I instantly fell in love with. The shop she bought it from is called Shop Equality Eastliegh, which supports business in less developed countries. The trinket box is hand crafted, and the design is just stunning. I have needed somewhere to store my midi-rings for some time, and this little box is just perfect for them.

This leads on to my latest obsession which is (you guessed it) midi-rings. They are just so cute, and instantly make any outfit more interesting. I recently found these in Dorothy Perkins for £5, and I just couldn't leave them!

I'd love to know what you think of the box, and your opinions on midi-rings (my friend said she felt she was't indie enough to wear them. I don't think I'm Indie but I wear them all the time!)

Stylish Pastel Nails

Pastel nails are right on trend at the moment. They are a cute way of adding a touch of colour to an outfit, with out owning the show, making them perfect to pair with both bright and monochrome styles.
I was going through my nail varnish collection and found a load of bright shades that I felt toned down would make the perfect pastle shades. So I thought after I had let them dry I would do a white wash over the top using a white nail varnish.

I love this look as it looks really casual and cute. Plus I love the effect doing the white wash over the top gives! It also means its unlikely anyone will have the same nails as you (bonus!)

Comment and let me know what you think of these, and tweet me a picture here if you try this out!

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet

Wow. Just wow, is all I can say about this product.
Not only have my lips felt ridiculously moisturised and smooth all day, but the colour is still on my lips! It has faded slightly but I didn't expect it to last nearly as long as it has! I'm not sure it lasts the 24 hours that it claims, but considering, the fact I haven't topped it up all day and there's still a hint of colour, I am nothing less than impressed.

This lip product looks like a gloss, but once applied using your finger it is very matte, almost like you have nothing on your lips but the stain of colour. If you wanted a more glossy look you could apply a gloss over the top.

You need very little of the product to get a great colour and
I can't wait to buy more! It looks I'm going to have to purchase every colour as there doesn't seem to be a bad one in the bunch!

If you can get your hands on one of these to try, then I can't recommend them enough!
Comment and let me know if you have tried them before, and if you like this post then please share it! Thank you

Beth Jordan Clutch

Shopping the other day, as you do,I wasn't planning on buying anything. But then inevitably I stumbled apon something that I couldn't resist...I needed this bag, right?
To be perfectly honest I don't think this was a need, however I have been on the hunt for a bag like this for a while, to take out in the evenings with me. (My current selection is either a smart rather large day bag, or a very tiny black back that doesn't even fit a small purse in).

So I felt like it would be silly of me to leave this behind and wait until I was in desperate need, ending up rushing and getting something I didn't like as much. So there's the logic behind the purchase.

I found this in TKMAXX for just £15! Its large enough to fit everything you need for a night out in it, without being a full on bag, perfect. It comes with a strap in a lovely rose gold colour which just makes me love it even more, so that you have the option to wear it over your shoulder if you don't want to have to carry a clutch round with you all evening, again perfect.

I am also totally in love with the colour of this bag, a peach toned baby pink. Being neutral I felt it would go with more. They did have a lot of other lovely colour options so definitely go and check them out! I would have bought more if I had infinite amounts of money, but I think that may have been a little excessive...

Let me know what you think! I absolutely love it and think its great for the price!

Natural English Rose Look

Summer is the perfect time to bring out a more natural look. Sitting by the pool, BBQ's in the sun, lounging in the park. No-one wants over done make up that slides straight off!
Here are the products that I use to give you a current on trend Natural English Rose look.

#1. For a light dewy skin base, Soap and Glory's Hocus Focus is great mixed with a pump of the L'oreal L'umi Magique foundation.

#2. I go for a subtle eye shadow colour for this look, combining the Maybelline 24 hr colour tattoo in on and on bronze, with a No.7 eye shadow in truffle.

#3. No.7 stay perfect is a great mascara for this time of year as it does just what it says unless you wipe it off using some cotton wool and warm water. For a water Proof alternative, I love the Lancome hypnose Baby Doll Mascara.

#4. A Benefit combination is perfect on the cheeks, I use the rosie-posie lip and cheek tint with dandelion blush on top. It stays put and looks so pretty and natural.

#5. If going very natural, the benefit lip gloss in Dandelion is great. However, if you want a bit more colour in the look then, the No.7 lip crayon in tease is lovely. It can be left more subtle with just one swipe across the lips or built up for a bolder lip.

#5 A great powder I have been using for a long time is the Max factor creme puff powder.  The trick is to just use this where you really need it to keep your make up looking fresh and dewy without it moving.

I hope this has given you some inspiration for a natural lasting summer look! And if you liked it please share with friends and networks!
